MODELING THE COOLING EFFECT OF THE CUTTING FLUID IN MACHINING USING A COUPLED FE-CFD SIMULATION

The cooling with cutting fluids is a complex process in manufacturing, since chemical, mechanical and thermal phenomena occur simultaneously. experimental methods developed so far do not allow for direct observation of the coolant flow during machining, which limits understanding mechanism. main aim this paper investigation convective heat transfer between fluid zone as well distribution on tool surface by means coupled FE-CFD simulation. FE model calculates generation under consideration experimentally validated punctual, transient temperature machining processes. Based result FE, subsequent CFD simulation performs calculation behavior transfer.
